MAPFRE acquires the iconic Ombú Building in Madrid

MAPFRE Inmuebles, the MAPFRE Group’s investment arm for alternative assets, has completed the acquisition of the Ombú Building, a landmark property located in Méndez Álvaro, one of the city’s most promising areas. This purchase reinforces the company’s commitment to investing in sustainable, strategically located offices.

The Ombú Building has an area of over 14,000 m², encompassing both the main building and a secondary building, as well as more than 240 parking spaces. The complex features 12,000 m² of green spaces that are integrated into its design, and it has been fully renovated by the renowned Norman Foster studio to meet the highest standards of sustainability and energy efficiency.

With this acquisition, "MAPFRE reaffirms its commitment to investing in top-tier real estate assets that combine innovation, sustainability, and strategic value," explains Carlos Díaz, General Manager of MAPFRE Inmuebles.

EA Sports currently has a lease on the property. Its strategic location in Méndez Álvaro, with its excellent transportation connections and proximity to Atocha Station, places it in a rapidly growing area that’s home to the headquarters of leading companies in Spain, making it a hub for technology and creativity.

This new purchase follows another recent acquisition in Madrid by MAPFRE RE. At the end of July, the company acquired a nine-story building at Calle de María de Molina, 54, in the Salamanca district, just a short walk from Príncipe de Vergara.

In addition to these purchases, MAPFRE Inmuebles has been partnering with leading European firms since 2018 to diversify its portfolio across the continent, focusing on assets in prime locations in major capital cities.
