  • The MAPFRE Group's good performance makes it possible to raise the dividend to 16 cents, a new high for the company. The company's stock gained 25.9% over 2024, and the average yield was 6.9%, placing it in the IBEX 35’s Top 10.

MAPFRE closed last year with figures at historic highs in terms of revenue (33.1 billion euros, 2.9% than in 2023), premiums (28.1 billion, +4.5%) and earnings (992 million, +29.3%), which has resulted in a final dividend of 9.5 cents gross per share, up from 9 cents on the 2023 final dividend. The interim dividend in 2024 was 6.5 cents, compared to 6 the previous year.

The total dividend for fiscal 2024 stands at 16 cents, 6.7% more than the previous year, and the highest level ever. At the press conference to present the annual results, MAPFRE chairman and CEO Antonio Huertas stated that MAPFRE’s commitment to its nearly 200.000 shareholders is ‘continuous and evolving,’ so the Board proposed "the best dividend in history, in line with the best result in MAPFRE”s history."

The dividend yield compared to the average share price in 2024 was 6.9%, making it one of the Top 10 performers in Spain’s IBEX 35. MAPFRE continues to rank as one of the most generous publicly listed companies in Spain for shareholders.

With this dividend, MAPFRE’s payout in shareholder remuneration comes to 54.7%, very close to 55% level established as part of the range of commitments undertaken in the company’s strategic plan.

This decision of the Board of Directors will be put to the vote at the Annual General Meeting, which is set to take place on March 14. As a new development, 0.15 cents per share will be paid to shareholders taking part in the Annual General Meeting, both in person and telematically, with the aim being to encourage the participation of shareholders in the company's corporate dealings.

A good year on the stock market

MAPFRE's good results have also been reflected in its share price: the MAPFRE stock rose 25.9%, closing out the year at 2.446 euros. Despite being a positive year in general for the markets and in particular for the insurance industry, MAPFRE's performance was superior to that of its peers on the stock market, as the whole of the IBEX 35 rose by 14.8% in the year and the Stoxx Insurance 600, the main indicator of the European insurance industry, was up by 18.9%.

So far this year, MAPFRE's share is also showing a strong upward trend, and at the close of Thursday, February 13, the cumulative increase was around 13.5% (pending closure).

No investor would deny that 2025 has been a “lively” year. Tariffs, interest-rate cuts, and questions about a potential artificial-intelligence “bubble” have dominated headlines in recent months. Even so, 2025 will also be remembered as a year of transition and adjustment.

Central banks will be decisive in shaping market trends in 2026

High stock market valuations and the concentration of gains, especially in the technology sector, dominate much of the analysis, although MAPFRE's experts point to another crucial factor: central bank policy. With the Fed facing another rate cut and a likely change in its chairmanship, and a European Central Bank that could take the opposite path if economic growth exceeds expectations, monetary policy could be decisive in the currency, bond, and equity markets.
