Beatriz Ranea has received the best manager award in the Bonds - Global Short Term category at the 2024 Awards to the best Fund Managers and Groups, presented by specialist publication Citywire Spain, for her management of the MAPFRE Short Term Euro product. This fund invests in public and corporate fixed income instruments, denominated in euros and with a minimum quality of BBB- in OECD markets.

With these awards, Citywire España rewards leading asset management firms and the best talent in global fund management available to Spanish savers and professionals. As such, the publication analyzes the individual managers who generate a higher risk-adjusted return for all the funds they manage in the sector in question for a period of three years.

Ranea also manages the Rentadólar Fondmapfre, which invests in public and private fixed income, mainly denominated in dollars, deposits and liquid, unquoted monetary instruments.

She joined MAPFRE AM's fixed income department in 2008 and one of her key tasks is the management and monitoring of guaranteed funds, from creation to full compliance with the guarantee undertaken. In a recent interview, she said that these vehicles “are an attractive proposition.”

"Investors who stay in until maturity don’t only enjoy the security of knowing they will recoup their entire initial investment, they can also obtain a fixed or variable additional return, depending on the product. At MAPFRE, we work with both modalities and structure guaranteed mutual funds and also guaranteed pensions, which are a good way to increase capital," she explains.

In addition, MAPFRE AM was nominated for the best group within the same category of Bonds - Global Short Term.

November was a volatile month for financial markets, as they dealt with the longest U.S. government shutdown in history, concerns about the valuations reached in companies linked to Artificial Intelligence, and sudden changes in the expectation of a further interest rate cut by the Fed. Returns were flat or slightly positive in equity markets.

No investor would deny that 2025 has been a “lively” year. Tariffs, interest-rate cuts, and questions about a potential artificial-intelligence “bubble” have dominated headlines in recent months. Even so, 2025 will also be remembered as a year of transition and adjustment.

High stock market valuations and the concentration of gains, especially in the technology sector, dominate much of the analysis, although MAPFRE's experts point to another crucial factor: central bank policy. With the Fed facing another rate cut and a likely change in its chairmanship, and a European Central Bank that could take the opposite path if economic growth exceeds expectations, monetary policy could be decisive in the currency, bond, and equity markets.
